We packed the car with the tent and left at 7.45am. The drive up to Cape Leveque wasn't too bad except for having to drive on an angle as the road in parts was only wide enough for one car on the flat.
On the way we stopped in at the Aboriginal community of Beagle Bay and visited the Church which is covered in mother of pearl shell. It was beautiful.
When we arrived at Kooljaman we were pleasantly surprised to find our beach shelter was on a small cliff right over the ocean. It was better than what we had been told it would be like. The boys enjoyed jumping off the cliff into the water below at high tide.
We all jumped in the water after setting up the tent and went for a snorkel. I ventured about 1meter off the shore where as the boys were about 10 meters out. I was convinced I was going to look up and see a shark or crocodile. It think I saw 1 fish as the boys saw heaps and survived!!!
After dinner we lit the fire and enjoyed the view and the peace and quiet. While the boys collected hermit crabs around our beach shelter.
It was another full moon and each night that we were there the moon came up later. The last night the sunset at around 6pm and the moon didn't rise until after 8pm. It was very weird as it was pitch black at 7pm, but good for a fire.
The next morning we woke to watch the sunrise and then the boys cooked us breakfast. Then we went for a drive along the back beach thinking that we would be back in an hour but it was so nice just lazing around in the water and collecting shells that we ended up staying for 4 hours.
On the way back to the tent the boys wanted to have a fish off the beach. So they thru a line in and their loure got caught on the rocks, so Michael had to swim out and rescue it. They didn't have much luck in the fishing department that day.
In the afternoon the boys decided to snorkel down to the main beach while I stayed behind. Once they reached the beach they noticed a lady pointing out to the ocean and waving to them. Michael thought it might be a shark so they all got out of the water but the lady was just pointing out to them that there was a pod of dolphins swimming out the back. Michael ended up talking to the lady and she was the local Policeman.
Cape Leveque is another beautiful part of Australia.
