8 - 9 September 2016 - Days 159 - 160 - Lucky Bay

We left Albany at 9am and drove into Esperance for a look before we headed onto Lucky Bay in the Cape Le Grande National Park.

While in Esperance we drove along the tourist drive to Twilight Beach which was voted one of the best beaches in the world.  It had beautiful white sand and clear water.  It was a really nice drive.

The kids had a quick ride at the skatepark before we got petrol and drove into the National Park which was another 70 klms away.

We arrived just before the sunset and setup and had dinner.

That night we played left, right and centre.

It had been another long day in the car.

The next morning we woke to a lovely day and the bay looked awesome.  Kangaroos came up to our van and the boys were patting them.

We sat out in the sun and had our breakfast, it was still abit cold but nice.  I managed to spill my cereal all over myself and even down my leg and into my ugg boot, which now stinks!!! Looks like I'm buying a new pair.

After I cleaned myself up we went for a drive to Thistle Cove and walked along the beach and found some old whale bones that had been washed up on the beach.  The colour of the water was amazing.

Then it was off to climb Frenchmens Peak.  It was only 3 klms return but a good test for my ankle as it was more of a climb than a walk.  My ankle went well and the view from the top of the Peak was awesome.  You could see all the little Islands that are off the coast of Esperance.

Michael added a massive rock to the pile in the cave at the top of the mountain.

On the way back down Mitch found some comfy seats for the boys to have a rest in.

It was back to the van for lunch and then we walked up the beach of Lucky Bay and found some kangaroos on the beach.  Mitch managed not only to pat a baby kangaroo but put his hand in the pouch.  I hope the mother doesn't feel violated!!!

Cooper thought it was the middle of summer and only had shorts on and I was freezing and rugged up.

The boys tried to catch some more squid but they had no luck so it was back to the van for dinner and a movie.
